The Boston Jewish Book Fair is a series
of literary
events featuring an eclectic line-up of notable authors. Programs
include panel discussions, readings and workshops by some of the best
voices in Jewish literature.
The Book Fair is
complemented by a wide selection of Jewish books,
including contemporary fiction, religion, Yiddish, cookbooks and
children's books, available for sale in the Gift Shop.

Storytelling with Mark
Binder
For nearly two decades, award-winning author and storyteller Mark
Binder has been delighting readers and listeners around the world with
his tales of Chelm. He'll share some of his favorites for all
ages - young, old, even teenagers! Binder is the author of The Brothers Shlemiel, the Council of Wise Women and A Hanukkah Present, which was the
finalist for the National Jewish Book Award for Family Literature.

In Conversation with WBUR's Robin Young
The
Boston Jewish Book Fair is honored to present the first Jewish woman to
be elected as governor of any state. Madeleine Kunin was elected to
three terms as the governor of Vermont and served as the Deputy
Secretary of Education and Ambassador to Switzerland under President
Bill Clinton. Join us for a fascinating discussion about women’s role

The League of Women
Voters hosts Madeleine M. Kunin, State Senators Marian Walsh and
Cynthia Creem and other women involved in state, local and national
politics for a discussion about motivating more women to run for public
office.

Young is the award-winning host of WBUR’s Here and Now. She has hosted the Today Show and CBS Morning and is best known to
Boston audiences for her part in launching the popular Evening Magazine on WBZ-TV.

Janis Ian: Society’s Child
Wednesday, November 19 (7:30pm)
“Society’s
Child” is the controversial song that catapulted 15-year-old
singer-songwriter Janis Ian into the diverse and dynamic 1960s music
scene. Her 1975 hit At Seventeen
became an anthem for teenage angst and earned her five Grammy
nominations and two Grammy awards. Janis Ian will speak about her
riveting musical and life journey and entertain the audience with a few
acoustic songs.

James Kugel: How To Read
the Bible

controversial examination of biblical scholarship, How to Read the Bible was awarded
the National Jewish Book Award and hailed by the New York Times as “awesome,
thrilling…magisterial, erudite, yet remarkably witty.” James Kugel
served as the Starr
